Citizens' Police Academy begins March 24
There's still time to enroll in the O'Fallon Police Department's six-week Citizens' Police Academy, which will meet from 6:45-9:45 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning March 24.
The academy gives citizens a chance to ride on patrol with an officer, provides an introduction to firearms training, and offers lectures and discussions taught by professionals and specialists in cyber crime, identity theft, crisis negotiations, and much more.
Cost for the course is $30, and enrollment is open to O'Fallon and St. Charles County-area residents who are age 18 and up, and graduating high school students who are at least 17.
For an application, visit www.ofallon.mo.us/PD, or pick one up at the O'Fallon Police Department. For more information, contact Police Officer Jeff Cook atjcook@ofallon.mo.us or 636-542-7029.
Voters can attend or "tune in" to the March 15 City Council Candidate Forum
O'Fallon City Council candidates in the upcoming April 5 municipal election have been invited to air their views and respond to questions posed by the Mayor's Youth Advisory Council (MYAC) at the City Council Candidate Forum, which will begin at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 15, at O'Fallon City Hall.
The public is welcome to attend the event, which also will be broadcast live on O'FallonTV, the City's cable access channel, and streamed "on demand" via the City of O'Fallon's website, www.ofallon.mo.us/OFallonTV.
The Mayor's Youth Advisory Council is composed of local high school students nominated by their school principals to learn about and participate in local government in an advisory capacity. As part of their participation, MYAC members traditionally host the O'Fallon City Council Candidate Forum, develop questions for the candidates, and moderate the night's proceedings.
